Paul McCartney – Wonderful Christmastime
Capo 2
Wonderful Christmastime is a classic 1979 track from Paul McCartney. It is a hugely popular Christmas song and one that seems to be being played in every shop I walk in during the month of December (and even November!).
It is a great tune full of interesting ideas but it is a challenge. We are playing the chord shapes from the Key of A Major but putting the capo on fret 2 turns this into B Major which is the key of our song. Even though we are using a capo to play the song we still need to use multiple barre chords.
There are two main parts to the song which are the Verse and the Chorus. The verse is not too tricky but will require you to learn some new chord shapes (in all likelihood that is) but the chorus is very tricky. It uses a lot of chord changes and a few of them are barre chords! You can check out my barre chord course for more help on these.
You will need to take your time with this tune and if you don`t master it by this Christmas, don`t worry, you can come back to it next Christmas. A bonus of doing this is seeing the progress you will make in that time!
Go steady with it, enjoy it and Merry Christmas!
